Tropfest 2013

This was the first year that Tropfest, a short film and music festival, being held in Brooklyn. Last year they had it at Bryant Park, but this year decided to change location to Prospect Park. I had so much fun at this festival! The bands were great and the short films were so entertaining. I went with two of my friends and we ended up staying until the very end because the films were just that good! This year the theme was “bridge” and they played 16 short films that incorporated the idea of bridge. I was blown away at the amazing talent and cannot wait until next year’s Tropfest with KISS as the theme. To be honest, I was feeling a bit inspired as well! The first place prize is $20,000, after all…

Fashion festival is super easygoing and fun, especially in Brooklyn. I kept it simple, especially with the heat, and paired a floral bodysuit with a pair of high-waisted Levi’s shorts that I got while thrifting last summer. I like to wear a belt with a simple outfit like this to tie it altogether. I wore my printed Keds and a couple fun bangles and then called it a day. 🙂Image🙂

Liev Schreiber was the host of Tropfest and he arrived with beautiful Naomi Watts. While getting a quick bite to eat, I stumbled upon the “black carpet” and took a few paparazzi snapshots of the GORGEOUS couple!

SoHo Event with Aimee Song at Piperlime

Last night I attended an event at the Piperlime SoHo Pop UP store featuring “Song of Style” blogger and fashionista, Aimee Song. (www.songofstyle.com). The event was really fun and unique! I had a great time mingling with PopSugar and other fab ladies at the event. Aimee was super friendly and chatted with everyone.

Also, they had the cutest little treats for us to nibble on while we were shopping/mingling. A churro (fried dough sprinkled with sugar and cinnamin) hanging from an umbrella! Strawberry, rhubarb popsicles and rosemary flavored ice-cream sandwiches were just some of my faves from this Piperlime Event in SoHo. Oh, cannot forget the oyster cart with fresh oysters ready to be served. My blogger friend, MDoll, loved that part! Check her out on http://www.mdollnyc.com

I kept my outfit fun and chic- pairing my favorite American Apparel striped top with my neon pink trousers from H&M. Love the stripe simplicity with a bright, pop color! Accessories I kept simple with simple studs and two yellow bangles. Of course, my neon jelly’s were on my feet, keeping me comfy and pulled the look together!

Coachella, see you soon

Last weekend was the first weekend of Coachella in California and the outfits were everything and more! Personally, I’ve never been but next year it’s on my list of summer music festivals. I think my favorite part of Coachella is the style! It’s my favorite combination of boho, chic, fringe, southwestern, and free spirit. Bloggers, actors, models, musicians, and more are always on the scene at Coachella. Check out some of my favorite’s from last weekend… and Coachella 2014 I will so see you soon! Fringe and all ~

Trend Alert: The High Slit

When the weather gets warmer, the slits get higher. This season I am seeing a lot of ultra high slits on jersey dresses and maxi skirts and I have to say, I’m loving it! It’s important to know what part of your body you like to accentuate and if your part are your legs then this is the trend for you! I love the idea of the high slit maxi dress because it reveals a little bit of skin but not too much. There is a fine line between classy sexy and just trashy. My rule for this kind of stuff is to cover the top if I’m showing the bottom part of my body. Whether it fits in your style or not, you should try these sexy dresses for a night out with your girls, date night, or even a concert night.

See below for some looks!
