Golden Globe Fashion Recap

One of my favorite award shows has to be the Golden Globes. The gowns are always so classy and elegant but this is the time where some of the best add a little fun. I had way too many favorites this time I just had to re-cap them! I’m all about the ladies who try unique styles, for some it works and for some not so much. Kate Winslet in Jenny Packham was one of my faves simply because she is flawlessly beautiful she always picks the perfect yet simple dress that always works for her. Salma Hayak in Gucci was my TOP fave mostly because I want that dress! Charlize Theron in Dior Couture was another personal favorite because I loved the cut and blush tone on her skin- her hair was styled perfectly and she looked very goddess like. Nicole Richie in Julien Macdonald looked divine, her dress fit her amazingly and hey I will take that in my size as well! Ugh! *Sigh* Loved it all! Until next award show…

Check out my recap here! Altogether, these are my faves from the glamorous night at the Golden Globes.

Say Yes I will, Yes I can

After an active, bustling day I couldn’t help but think of myself as Superwoman. Coming straight from a relaxing vacation into the hectic real world has surprisingly given me the biggest push that I truly needed. I find myself on a high when I am really busy and have a bunch of things to do. An adrenaline rush that drives me forward to keep striving for more. It’s the encouraging, productive feeling at the end of the day that gives me that extra motivation to do it again tomorrow. Don’t get me wrong, relaxing and sleeping are two of my favorite things to do but lately all I’ve been trying to do is stay on my grind.

As an independent and strong woman I value the hustle a lot more than other people who have it easy for them. Life has always been testing me to my limits and although sometimes it can be trying I feel blessed that I have made it this far.

A superwoman, through my eyes, is an effervescent, vibrant, radiating, confident, dynamic woman that knows how to handle her business. It’s important to know that we are all in this together as sister’s and support each other. I am blessed enough to have some of the most amazing ladies as my best friends and an incredible mother. A superwoman grows with her support system because I do believe self-determination has a lot to do with the people we surround ourselves with.

So, keep radiating that Naturalista Fashionista energy that is within every superwoman!

Some of my daily female inspirations that I simply adore:

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, “I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.” You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”- Eleanor Roosevelt

“How wonderful is it that nobody need to wait a single moment before starting to improve the world”- Anne Frank

Trend Spotlight- Clueless

Sheer everything has been all over the runways/stores lately. Whether it’s just the sleeves of a button up or an oversized sheer dress over a tight-fitting dress- the look is flawlessly elegant. I love having a hint of sheer because it says sexy without even trying. Gives the subtle hint that is just perfect. There are so many ways to rock this trend but I’m going to highlight some of my favorites.
Cher from Clueless always sticks out for me for this trend. Besides being my favorite movie, there is a lot of inspiration in there! Just have to give it that modern twist 🙂
The first look by Ms. Cher is the best for me. Wear a long fitted sheer button up over a short skirt to make it the full outfit. For future outfits you can tuck it in high-waisted pants for another look.
I’m into the cropped sheer shirt over a tank for an edgy look, accessorizing here is key though! Try a long necklace or some fun earrings.

Cruisin’ a la vintage

Hello my Naturalistas! In case you fashionistas were wondering why I haven’t blogged in a bit it’s because I was on a lovely vacay. I went on an amazing cruise to the Eastern Caribbean with some of my faves. I had such a blast visiting the islands and soaking up the sun. The wardrobe I took with me was fun as well. Summer time fashion is always the best in my opinion because of the vibrant colors, fun accessories, and sassy cuts. I kept it very island breezy with a little bit of retro flavor. I wanted to be casual during the day so I can feel comfortable and hey I was mostly in my bathing suit anyway!

Here’s a little peek of some of my fave vintage outfits♥

Rest in Peace Etta James

One of my favorite icons, Etta James your music has influenced so many people including myself. It will live on forever and ever through our souls and memories. Rest in Power.

“A lot of people think the blues is depressing,” she told The Los Angeles Times in 1992, “but that’s not the blues I’m singing. When I’m singing blues, I’m singing life. People that can’t stand to listen to the blues, they’ve got to be phonies.”

45 Places To Go in 2012..

One of my passions in life is to travel! I love everything about it, seeing new sights/ learning about new cultures/languages/ meeting new people/ the fashion ! It’s all so fascinating to me.I really do feel that traveling can help us grow and evolve, it’s broadening our horizons and trying new things that help shape us. I want to go visit every place on this list but my top places from this article that I am just completely dying to get too are: Dakhla, Morocco, ; Panama; Lhasa, Tibet; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Havana, Cuba; Tanzania; Brazil; and Oakland, California (shout out to my BayBee)!  Oh, and going back to Florence, Italy would be oh so fabulous and will happen! Ahhhhh…

I came across this article on the NY Times and thought I’d share it with you. Check it out!

Prints Lovin’

This season printed blazers are the perfect way to add some color and fun in your wardrobe. They’re fresh and accessible because whether you are mixing and matching or making the blazer the focal point, you’re adding so much fun to your outfit. I love loud prints because they are very one of a kind pieces that will always last. Whether it’s an elegant floral, cool graphic design, colorful ethnic print, there is always a print I am obessesd with. Winter always has its blues but werrrk one of these printed blazers and you’ll be sure to stand out! If you’re into the mix-and-match look make sure you have one solid color that matches within all the prints. That’s the trick! You want to look put together in an effortless way. Try a bunch of prints and designs but that one color that ties all of them together is oh so necessary.

And for some personal faves:

Chanel Iman for Allure January 2012

Fendi, Donna Karen, Gucci, Michael Kors, Proenza Schoulder, Dolce & Gabanna, and Balenciaga—  *sigh* every woman’s dream wardrobe. Titled Joy Ride, and photographed by legendary fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier, the 21-year-old Atlanta native is rockin’ the futuristic vintage vibe in her fab couture pieces for 2012. The spread is shot alter-ego or mirror style with Chanel posing on a white background in two different outfits and varying expressions, giving the illusion she’s interacting with herself. This was done more often in older shoots but with technology advancing, it has become easier to create such a cool effect. Overall, loved the concept and the wardrobe styling was exquisite!
