One of my favorite collections of designers has to be the Resort Collection. It says vacation, bright trends, and versatility. From everyday beach looks, to garden party, to night time on the scene looks- it has everything with a fresh, new twist. Each collection I’ve seen so far has blown me away but Phillip Lim’s, in particular, inspired me in so many ways. Phillip Lim is so incredibly talented, from designing back to back collections and winning the CFDA award for Menswear he has truly done it all!
His inspiration came from nature, the summer weather, and vacation season. With a total of only 25 days this line has flourished into something as beautiful and intriguing as his motivation behind it.
“I was sitting in my garden, watching the blooms come out,”
Last week I had the pleasure of attending Rachel Roy’s event in Macys, Herald Square. It was an absolutely fab event with the designer herself introducing her new line and live brazilian music by talented artist, Seu Jorge. (if you don’t know , NOW you know.. check him out) The acoustic set provided a perfect vibe for the breezy, colorful, and fun collection. Brazil inspired, she talked about her motivation behind the line and the beautiful collaboration between the music and fashion. My two favorite things. I love how inspiration can be drawn from anything and anyone, it’s so beautiful. Rachel Roy unveiled a line full of bright prints, maxi dresses, color and bold florals, and much more. Her line is officially out in all Macy’s locations- so shop ladies and get BRASIL inspired 🙂
Here are some pics from the event and an inspiration board for the line:
PS. Play Seu Jorge for the full BRAZIL effect 🙂 Enjoy with a glass of sangria and get inspired..
Affordable designer fashion is definitely the best of the best! On April 17th Alberta Ferretti’s new collection for Macy’s will drop in all stores. With prices from $49-$119 Ferretti’s collection is full of chunky sweaters, maxi dresses, strapless tops, and of course on trend print. The shoot is absolutely divine, shot in Italy on the Amalfi coast. The bright-colored dresses against the backgrounds is so exquisite, makes me want to take a vacation myself! ..With some of the designer’s amazing clothing, of course 😉
Kanye West debuted his second collection at Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday. Celebs came out to support such as Kim K, Swizzy, Alicia Keys, Common, P.Diddy, and a lot more. Kanye had a lot written on this due to the harsh criticism of last years show. His “ill-fitting” clothing criticism wounded the rapper so much that he banned editors of previewing his new line at the last-minute, according to Eric Wilson at the New York Times.
“I don’t know about this,” he said. “I got treated unfairly by the press last time. Why would I want to do this?”
Christina Binkley of the Wall Street Journal criticized West’s latest collection for being too “Givenchy-esque” but gave the rapper credit: “This Kanye collection is a massive improvement.”
This line proved a lot of editors wrong with the stunning furs, slinky dresses, furry peplums, and bad ass leather pieces. Oh, did I mention a complete fur backpack? I need that in my life!
Overall, I thought his Fall Collection was very much over the top and glamorous with the exquisite furs and tight leather pieces. Statement pieces for a woman. Very similar to his own style, but I can appreciate it. He improved as a designer and I really enjoyed this collection, looking forward to more from Mr. West.
One of my favorite designers has to Gwen Stefani, she is so eclectic and versatile with her style I just love her! I’ve been a fan since No Doubt and still am.. This is her latest Spring 2012 line and I am completely obsessed with each and every piece. From the bright neon accessories, to the messy buns, and oversized pants I adore this collection! I would literally wear every single piece all the way down to the bags, LOVE LOVE LOVE. She never seems to let me down, always brings a new twist with the bold prints and interesting details. One of my faves, much love and respect to her creativity and I only hope she keeps inspiring us naturalista fashionistas with her looks.
Rachel Zoe has always been one of my favorite celebrity stylists. She has such a powerful and confident persona that I just love. The fact that she has finally dipped into the designing field makes me so excited. A woman with such great taste as hers needs to design her own clothing! Such an inspiration from me, especially since she is from my state- (shout out to Jersey!) Rachel Zoe debuted her RTW FALL 2012 a couple of days ago and needless to say, I am completely obsessed with the whole line. Bananas! I die. It had a lot of seventies inspiration mixed with my absolute fave- menswear. A lot of structured suits and glamorous furs to add some sensuality. The fit was amazing, the textures were incredible, and the best part?– the styling! I am oh so inspired by a lot of these looks. Suits can be so sexy when fitted properly. And the best part? Accessories to make it feminine.
I am just so eager for the spring season to come in full effect. This season I am looking forward to the fab trend of pastel colors. I’ve always loved the sweetheart feel of light pastel colors, especially on my nails 😉 This spring 2012 RTW runways are just flowing with these fun and lush colors. Cotton candy pinks and blues mixed with minty greens and lemon drop yellows. So fun and so feminine, LOVE. White lace is also a huge trend along with the pastels that I am loving. Mixing the two is just a match made in heaven.
“After the hardness of Fall, we wanted something gentle and kind, fragile but strong, too,” said designer Marc Jacobs
Marc Jacobs designed an effortlessly chic line for Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 RTW. From the prom queen tiaras, to the all white carousal background, to the shoes I just adored the whole concept. Sugar and spice seemed to be the theme of the show and I was a fan of every part of it. I get so much inspiration from amazing designers such as Marc Jacobs and this line truly has me ready for Spring!
Rachel Roy is such a talented clothing designer and nowadays young designers are always branching out. Her new shoe line is set to come out to stores in August and I am just thrilled! Having taken “designer inspiration” from her footwear mentor Manolo Blahnik, the Rachel Roy collection of around 30 shoe styles will retail from $200–600 and include flats, pumps, boots, and booties. Rachel’s clothing always portrays a sense of confidence and structure, I am excited to see what her new shew line will entail. Did I mention she is one of Michelle Obama’s favorite designers? GO Girl!
“I don’t want shoes unless they are strong and sexy. I don’t want them to be just strong or just sexy,” says Roy. “[A strong and sexy look] represents the woman I want to be.”
