NYFW – Spring/Summer 2013

Here is a quick re-cap of my time during NYFW this past September. I had the pleasure of attending a show in the tent at Lincoln Center – Fashion Shenzhen – courtesy of my friend, Martha Luna of http://www.mdollynyc.com. The tent was packed full of celebs, fashion bloggers, photographers, editors, and more! It’s such an exhilarating feeling to be in Lincoln Center for NYFW. Everything from getting your ticket, to getting seated and wondering who the person next to you will be, to the flashing photographers just gives you a rush like no other. The scene, the ambiance, the feeling is different than anything I have ever experienced before. I just love it.

The show opened up with the designer, Guoxin Xia of Ellasay. The entire collection was exquisite. Some of the trends that stood out to me were the crisp icy whites paired with the box-y ombre jackets, the simple combo of black and white, asymmetrical dresses, and hologram details. I found this collection to be trendy yet wear-able. The designer kept in mind the modern woman and you could tell by the easy silhouettes. I felt like I could wear almost every outfit coming down the runway. (or at least I would LOVE to)

The second show was probably one of my favorite shows I have ever been to! I absolutely loved the entire collection, including the makeup, hair, fabrics, music. I was blown away by every piece that came down the runway. Designer, Deng Hao, kept the Chinese culture in mind while designing these exquisite dresses. The details and vibrant colors blew me away. Whimsical to say the least, Deng Hao took me to a place I’ve never been to! I felt like I was in a Chinese tea garden party with the most elite. I loved every second of it.

I’m looking forward to see their next collection. I love how each designer has its own vision and it’s very clear when you see their work. Although they both have very different signature styles, they still compliment each other in a traditional way that stays close to the Chinese heritage and culture.

My outfit- Prabal Gurung x Target Shirt, H&M skirt, Steve Madden Wedges, Vince Camuto accessories.

Here are some pictures from the show and inside Lincoln Center-

Winter White Trend

One of my current Fall/Winter trend obsessions is Winter White. There is just something so chic and elegant about wearing white that I just love. I always used to think of wearing all white in the summer time (All-White Parties!) but after seeing so much of this trend on the runway and translated into winter wear, I’m starting to be a believer.

I absolutely love color (especially in the dreary winter months) but for me, white is even more powerful than a bright color sometimes. Pair it with a really dark lip color and gold accessories and you’re all set.

Summer Lovin’ Photo Shoot

Although it is the start of my favorite fashion season, Fall, I still am missing summer time! I decided to share a fun photo shoot I did this summer in Brooklyn, NY. The set was in DUMBO, which is an area of Brooklyn overlooking Manhattan. The beautiful bridge is right behind me and I had an amazing time soaking up the sun, the views, and most importantly the summer time! You will be missed, summer ❤

I kept my outfit flirty and fun to go with my mood of the day. H&M neon green tank tucked into my favorite mid-waisted shorts from Forever21! (such a great find) I accessorized with  colorful bangles I got from the boutique store, Steps, in NYC and bright cobalt blue nails. (Love this color, easily adds a pop of color to any outfit) Also, a gifted handmade necklace from Ghana and my mirrored blue sunnies.

Parish Nation Fall 2013 Preview

Last week I had the pleasure to attend the Parish Nation Fall 2013 Preview Party located in the Parish Showroom. This was a really fun event, mostly for bloggers, stylists, and PR to give us a sneak peak of the line and meet the designers behind it. Everyone was super friendly and I got a little background behind the line and their inspiration. Parish Nation really focuses on the small details, which I really admire. It’s the little details that show how committed a brand really is to their product. They are putting something out there not only with great quality but also with a lot of thought behind it. I was really impressed by this line. The textile and prints were amazing and the denim had some really cool washes and details as well.

You can check out more of the brand by going to their website below:

Also, see below for some quick pics. I took while at the event. 🙂 I kept my outfit pretty simple b/c if you are in NYC you know how HOT it is… Thrifted vintage dress w/ a high waisted belt, my Bob Marley hand woven earrings, Jessica Simpson sandals, and a high bun was all I needed for this event! 😉

Knee-high Lover

The knee-high gladiator trend is really big this spring/summer. From the runways to the stores, I see it in all variations. I was a little skeptical about the high heel gladiators, but I’m all about trying new trends and fashion risks and I actually do like them! It’s all about incorporating them into your own style and making it work for you.

The flat knee-high gladiator shoes are more casual and can be worn with cut off shorts or even a fun floral skirt/dress. The trick is to get them in a neutral color, that way you can pair them with any fun print or floral.

I love the boho feel that they give off and most importantly they are so fun to add into my wardrobe!

The Opening of Mahna Mahna Showroom in SoHo, NYC

On Wednesday I had the pleasure to attend an opening of a showroom in SoHo exclusively for stylists only. My friend, another wardrobe stylist to entertainment industry, invited me to go with her. Mahna Mahna showroom opened this week and we were the first stylists to preview their collection. It was FAB! It was nothing like I have ever seen before.

This showroom specializes in designer and vintage pieces bought from Paris, Japan, Milan, New York, etc. The buyers travel all over the world picking up the most fab designer dresses/shoes/accessories/suits/tops.. and more. Their idea is to be a “one stop shop” for stylists that way you can pick up a whole outfit head to toe for your client. Usually, showrooms will only specialize in dresses or couture pieces- but Mahna Mahna has it ALL. They even had a private room where you can dress your client and actually try on the clothing. The ladies were super sweet at Mahna Mahna and I really look forward to pulling some of their pieces!

These are some of my faves from the showroom, but I didn’t even go thru it all b/c there was just SO much fabulosity!!! The Pucci dresses were major, prob. my favorite designer right now!

NY Fashion Week Recap 2013!

Hey Naturalista’s! After a whirlwind of NYFW events I finally was able to compile some of my fav. looks and times from the shows I was able to attend with my dear friend and Blogger, Martha Luna (www.mdollnyc.com) Check her blog out!

NYFW was everything I imagined and more! It was a jam-packed day full of shows back to back and many, many familiar faces in the fashion industry. Super great place to network, too. I met a lot of designers, bloggers, videographers, models, and more!! Everyone was just so friendly and super sweet. Really just trying to get their business card out there and get their name out to as many ppl possible.

Besides the free goodies and VIP, my favorite part was def. the actual runway shows. The music and papparazzi really set the vibe to the show. As the models walked out on the runway wearing some of the most beautiful designs for Fall I began to feel what living out a dream really feels like. It was truly everything I had anticipated and more! My favorite show was the Monique Lhullier show, I didn’t get good pics b/c I was so just so intrigued and in the moment. PS. the shows are super short! They last about 8-12 minutes. So can you imagine? Working on a line for about 6 months for a 10 min. presentation with a million ppl watching?? Talk about pressure!

Check out some of pics. to give you a bit of what I felt on Day three of NYFW at Lincoln Center, NYC.
