Vintage Gucci History

Gucci's Exclusive 1921 Collection

The New Bamboo Gucci Bag, refreshed with modern details, like hand-cut leather tassels and contemporary colors, requires 13 hours of work and is still crafted in the same way as the original. Amazing to say the least. More than 140 pieces go into every bag and each one of them is hand-assembled by a master Gucci artisan in Gucci’s Florentine workshops. The original bamboo bag came to life in post-war Italy when a ration on leather and other precious materials threatened to halt production.

Creating the one of a kind Bamboo handle for the bag. By heating the bamboo in an open flame, a perfect semi-circle can be formed.

First created in the1950s, the model became the preferred accessory for Jacqueline Onassis, who was photographed toting numerous versions throughout the 1960s. America’s former First Lady was so devoted to the style that the bag soon took on the name of the First Lady herself. Each New Jackie bag requires a minimum of seven hours and maximum of thirteen hours.

~~Now, that is my kind of History!

Soul Sensation

So thrilled to see Adele on the cover of October’s VOGUE UK for her very first time. I have been a fan since her debut album “19” and she still has me with her latest, “21” Her music is soulful, smooth, and full of emotion. It just takes me away, and her voice is so pure and beautiful I can listen to it all day long. She is such a rare gem in the music industry, which sets her apart from everyone. She is my soul sensation along with Erykah, Jill, and India…

Adele rocked a custom Burberry lace dress for the shoot. I was very happy to finally see her all done up for such a great fashion magazine, but something stood out to me. They could have done so much more. She is such a beauty, a real and true beauty. I wish VOGUE would have embraced her curves and beautiful figure and shown it off in a different way. The shoot seemed as if they were trying to hide her figure and focus in on the face, which is a beauty! Ugh those eyes, ya’ killin’ me! *Sigh* This industry needs to switch it up sometimes! Can’t wait to step my foot in it…But, for now I will focus on the positive aspect which is: ADELE on the cover of VOGUE! 🙂

On critics focusing on her body and not her music:

“I’ve seen people where it rules their lives, who want to be thinner or have bigger boobs, and how it wears them down,” she tells the magazine. “And I don’t want that in my life. I have insecurities, of course, but I don’t hang out with anyone who points them out to me. My life is full of drama and I won’t have time to worry about something as petty as what I look like,” she continued. “I don’t like going to the gym. I like eating fine foods and drinking nice wine. Even if I had a really good figure, I don’t think I’d get my tits and ass out for no one.”

AMEN Sistah’ ! Wine & Dine Giiiirl

Color me Red..

After watching the Emmys last night I must say I was very impressed! The show itself was fun and entertaining, but the red carpet captured my attention right away. The theme of the night was Red, a bold statement that compliments so many different skin tones. Timeless, elegant, and confidence was portrayed through these body hugging fire-red numbers, and I loved each and every one of these FAB dresses! Although this trend was not so huge on the runway this year, the Emmy’s sure brought it back.

Kerry Washington was one of my favorites of the night. Sultry, fiery  sophistication was just oozing through her Zuhair Murad number. Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, classic hair style, Jimmy Choo platform pumps, and the best for last? Red lips to complete the look.

And, of course Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang. Can never go wrong with Vera. This spicy body-hugging dress fit her like a glove and the Colombian emerald earrings just topped it off PERfectly.  Classic hair style that didn’t take away from the dress, she looked stunning.

Loved it all, I’ll be sure to pull out my red dress this weekend, Emmy style channeled 😉

I told my girls.. You can Get it

Alright, ladies. The post was on its way after “Crazy Stupid Love” but after seeing “Drive” this weekend with my ladies .. well speachless.. Ryan Gosling. I do not know any female that is not head over heels for this man! Gorgeous to say the least and talented as well! Then, when I found out he broke up a fight in the middle of NYC, well let’s just say my title says it all. Go check out his latest, “Drive”.. Really interesting and loved the soundtrack. Anywho, back to  admiring sexy white chocolate… He is my YUM of the day 🙂

I am Not my Hair..

It was a rainy, humid day and any girl with curly hair already Knows that = FRIZZ ! There was no way for me to combat these frizzy locks so on days like this it’s sleek bun or rock it out Diana Ross style.. I was feelin’ the big hair that day so I went with it. When I arrived to work my co-worker of Dominican descent comments, “You got that good curly hair.” Shocked, I thought to myself he is out of his mind my hair looks crazy but the second, more important thought that came to my head.. “what does good curly hair even mean??” I am shocked to think that there are good and bad types of curly hair. I am thrilled when I see a female rockin’ the curls- any style/cut/color..natural is always the way to be. Knowing that in some countries people are judged by the hair on their head, putting them in boxes like that really upsets me. I do not believe there is such thing as “good” hair. I do believe that there is beauty in every curl, in every hair type, in every person.

Quoting one of my favorite artists India Arie in her song, ” I am not my Hair ”

“Does the way I wear my hair make me a better person?

Does the way I wear my hair make me a better friend? Oh

Does the way I wear my hair determine my integrity?

I am expressing my creativity..”

Welcome

Hello World! I am excited to share with you all the passions in my life. Fashion is number one, always, but I am thrilled to write more than just your average fashion blog. I believe that fashion is art, in every form. It can be perceived differently by different cultures, views, backgrounds, and minds. As an individual in this beautiful world I am evolving every day, learning more about the world and myself, all through my fashion lens of course 😉  I am a naturalista fashionista and hope to portray my thoughts, both fashion related and Natural related. I thought it would be appropriate to quote one of my faves and inspiration.. The Fabulous Coco Chanel..

” Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
